Bad Granny

A Romantic Senior Thriller

by Ember Stokes

This light-hearted mystery/thriller about old folks behaving badly in a down-at-the-heels retirement village where aging gangsters never forget and never forgive some people will do anything for fun or money, and an elderly woman with special talents is ready to clean house, with a little help from her friends. Old age may bring disabilities, but the folks at Golden Sunset Village have brought their strengths and vices with them to stir up a powerful brew.

Now in her mid-seventies, Trudy is an aging special operative. They used to call her the Spider Lady, and she still has a bite. She gets help from Mel, who at eighty still runs every day and remembers his old military skills. She knew Gerta in college fifty years ago, but the renewed friendship comes with new problems. And she faces some unexpected opposition. Confined to a wheelchair, the giant Frankie Snakes has only a few months to live, but he has scores to settle. Frankie’s old right-hand man, Eddie the Gazelle, is there to help and has a few rackets of his own brewing among the senior citizens.

At age 88, ex-madam and porn industry mogul Sweet Georgia Brown still knows how to put on a show. Veronica writes romance novels and gives lectures on elder sex. Charismatic Pastor Ron has his own agenda. The golf pro is older than he looks, and easily purchased. The manager of Golden Sunset Village, Lizette Reno, is a tall, pale, religious woman with a mandate to keep order, but it’s all slipping out of her control.

This retirement village is going downhill fast. Even if Trudy can solve the puzzle, she may not survive to celebrate.
